HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Hello and welcome to the last edition of The Bridge for 2008. There is no doubt that this year has been a turbulent one indeed, which is why we’ve included a must-read overview of the economy and interest rate forecasts for the New Year. Tinus has also outlined a new GhostConvey concept that will save you loads of time and energy when submitting bridging finance applications. And we’re proud to introduce a new section called “Jean’s tips” which is filled with useful advice on how to make your bridging even easier.

So until we meet again in 2009, the Quince Property Finance team would like to thank you for all your support. We wish you, your families and colleagues all the blessings of the Festive Season.

PS: our offices will be open for business during the holidays.

Dewaal Basson
National Sales and Marketing Manager

OOPS!

It seems that we had some technical gremlins at play on our launch issue. It has come to our attention that no one could access the page they needed in order to update their details. We do apologise and instead, we have given the 5 x R500 Woolworths shopping vouchers to five lucky readers who had their say on our Tea & Bizquizz.

The winners are: Manda - Etienne Champion (Pretoria), Caanita - AV Dawson (Bellville), Dianne - Kaplan Blumberg (Port Elizabeth), Debbie - Bissets Boehmke McBlain (Cape Town) and Sharon - DVB (Alberton). Congratulations!

ALWAYS LOOKING ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

The world has changed a lot over the last year and is continuing to change around us. We have a world economy under pressure, a new world leader in the form of US president elect Barack Obama and a rapidly changing political environment in SA. These changes bring with them a combination of fear and hope. Although as individuals we cannot necessarily change the broader economic and political environment we can change our reaction to the changes. We can choose to focus on the fear or choose to rejoice knowing that with change comes hope and an opportunity for growth.

We at Quince have taken a positive approach and are actively looking for ways to improve our service offering and also to expand our product range. As such, as our partners and lead providers, your suggestions, advice and complaints are invaluable to us. Email De Waal at dewaalbasson@quince.co.za.

BRIDGING IS NOW EASIER THAN EVER BEFORE

Tinus van Kampen (Operations Manager)

As you well know, applying for bridging finance with the wrong bridging partner can be a hassle, to say the least. Now BFASA (Bridging Finance Association of South Africa), together with Korbitec, the provider of GhostConvey, is in the process of developing a bridging finance solution that will simplify and shorten this process dramatically. ARE WE AT THE TOP OF THE CYCLE AND WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?

Johann le Roux (General Manager)

Although times are tough in the property industry, it is important to realize that South Africans across all sectors are feeling the pinch. Inflation has been the key factor in determining the level of interest rates. Read more.

JEAN’S TIPS

Although Jean is the leader of the Quince Credit Team, those who know her think of her more as a shoulder to lean on, a sounding board for new ideas and a source of good advice. Which is why we’ve asked Jean to jot down some tips on how to make your interaction with Quince even easier.

TIP 1: When sending us an application, please include as much detail as possible on your letterhead regarding the status of the transaction. This will speed up the credit vetting process and can eliminate a lot of unnecessary phone calls.

If you have any questions or tips that you’d like to share with us, email Jean on jeanvisser@quince.co.za.

TEA & BIZQUIZZ

In the last issue of The Bridge we asked you how many cups of coffee on average you drink per day. The results were very telling indeed! 41% said that they indulged in more than one cup, but less than 3 while 27% admitted to a caffeine fix of more than 3 cups a day! Only 23% claimed to only need one cup to get going in the morning.

This time we’re asking: Have you done your Christmas Shopping yet?

Did you know?

According to legend, human cultivation of coffee began in the 11th Century after goats in Ethiopia were seen becoming frisky after eating the leaves and fruits of the coffee tree.
